UNAUTHORIZED DISSEMINATION OF FALSEHOOD AND MALICIOUS INFORMATION CAPABLE OF DISRUPTING

PUBLIC PEACE IN THE UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA BY THE NSUKKA CAMPUS ARM OF THE SUG

RE: PUBLIC NOTICE

My attention has been drawn to an unfortunate circulating document dated 25th April 2024 and signed by the President, Secretary General and Director of Information of the SUG, Nsukka Campus of our University directing students of the University of Nigeria to halt further payment of service charges/fees in the ongoing 2023/2024 academic session,

According to the malicious document laden with obvious falsehood, the apparently misguided authors claimed that the University of Nigeria Nsukka increased fees in the current 2023/2024 academic session. This document in its intents and purpose is capable of destabilizing the peace of the University and must be totally discountenance.

I am therefore, constrained in all sincerity to confirm that the University of Nigeria DID NOT INCREASE FEES/CHARGES IN THE 2023/2024 ACADEMIC SESSION,

The last fees increment was in the 2021/2022 academic session and as expected all the 100-300 level will continue with that fees structure introduced in their first year being the 2021/2022 academic session.

Consequently, all students from 400-600 level in the current 2023/2024 session are paying the Old fees since they commenced with since fees increment did not happen while they were in first year, This explanation, will expectedly hold for categories of students who changed programme and re-started with 100level in that 2021/2022 academic session, I therefore advise all law-abiding students Of the university to disregard this document from the Nsukka campus branch of the SUG and proceed to pay all legitimate fees already domiciled ill each student’s porta’. This will enable the students process their registration seamlessly and be qualified for hostel allocation that commences on Tuesday 30th April 2024.

Let me again remind the Nsukka campus of the Student’s Union that we are a three-campus University with each having its own students’ governance structure. This mischievous memo, would have at least, directed Nsukka campus-based students over which her jurisdiction lies but did otherwise for obvious reason of creating mischief.

I have taken the pains of releasing this memo to the public of the day that I am delivering the inaugural lecture to the world because of the urgent need to avert the unnecessary crisis which this document is intended to inflict any students and the entire community, be assured of my relentless commitments towards the overall and genuine welfare of the entire students of the University of Nigeria.
