In the heart of Enugu State, Nigeria, stands a prestigious beacon of education: the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). The institution, deeply rooted in its historic establishment by Nnamdi Azikiwe in 1955 and officially inaugurated on October 7, 1960, stands as a testament to excellence and innovation. Spanning across three dynamic campuses—Nsukka, Enugu, and Ituku-Ozalla—all located in Enugu State, UNN remains at the forefront of quality higher education in Nigeria.

The UNN departmental cut-off mark is a combination of your JAMB and post-UTME score.

Your name will appear on the merit list if your aggregate score exceeds your departmental cutoff mark.

The UNN merit list is 100 percent transparent for all courses. You must see your name on the admissions list if you beat the cutoff mark.

Applicants who scored 160 and above can write the UNN post-UTME exams.

What is the UNN Cut-Off Mark all About?

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has departmental cut-off marks that differ depending on the program of study and the academic year. These cut-off scores are often established following the Post-UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) screening process, and they may be impacted by variables like the volume of applications, the caliber of applicants, and the department’s capacity.

The cut-off point that each department sets is usually greater than the general university cut-off point imposed by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

However, the UNN departmental cut-off mark shall be established by the candidate’s JAMB score and O’level result grade in the event that UNN did not write a post-UTME exam.

So you have a chance of being admitted to the department you prefer or choose when registering for JAMB if your average score is on the dot or exceeds your departmental cut-off mark.

The UNN merit list is completely transparent, though it favors less educated states. If you exceed the department cutoff mark, you will be given admission to that department.

This means that you will be offered admission if you surpass your department cut-off point and other admission requirements, like your department subject combination, acceptable O’level result, and grade.

Note: For the academic admission session of 2023–2024, the UNN general cutoff point is 160.

How to know your UNN Aggregate Score

UNN uses the 60:40 and Sometimes 80:20 ratio for the calculation of her cut-off mark;

but in this post, we will use the 60:40 ratio.

Now pay attention, it’s simple to calculate just follow the steps below:

  • JAMB Score = 60%
  • UNN Post UTME Score = 40%
  • Now you have to Multiply your JAMB score by 0.6
  • Multiply your Post UTME score by 0.4

For example, if your JAMB score is 280 and your Post UTME score is 310. Here is how to calculate your aggregate score;

  • JAMB = 280 x 0.6 = 168
  • Post UTME = 310 x 0.4 = 124
  • Aggregate Score = 292

Add your JAMB and Post UTME score divided by 2.

Remember that can also see your Average score when you check your Unn Screening Result online through the UNN portal www.unnportal.unn.edu.ng

Please Note:

Kindly note that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) used the 90:10 ratio to calculate the admission aggregate score for the 2023/2024 admission session.

UNN Cut Off Mark 2024/2025

Please be aware that the UNN departmental cutoff mark for every subject is predetermined and fixed depending on the academic year’s performance of the students as measured by their JAMB and Post-UTME results.

It implies that there isn’t a set cutoff point. For instance, 287 may have been the merit cut-off point for nursing science. However, the cutoff point can go up or down this year.

After the Post UTME screening exam, the UNN departments set the merit cut off mark.

For instance, the overall scores of the students will be compiled by the Department of Medical Laboratory Science. They will examine the top and bottom aggregate scores for the admission quota.
