Can I Upload Cancelled or Held Results on JAMB/School Portal? Here’s the Answer

Some candidates who had their results withheld by WAEC or pending by NECO were recently contacted to inquire about the possibility of uploading the same documents at CBT centers and also about the ease of uploading their awaiting results during their UTME or DE registrations by simply going to CBT centers or JAMB, the main office.

It can be amusing to write in response to queries about uploading withheld, pending, or outstanding results via the JAMB portal. I can admit, though, that I’ve been asked a lot of questions about this.

Uploading O’Level Results is About Grades

You are required by JAMB to upload your results from WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or NBAIS. That’s not a joke. It’s a significant issue. They want to make sure you have the necessary O-level subjects and that your scores are good enough to get you in.

What makes you think that uploading results that are held, pending, outstanding, or awaiting is what they would prefer?

To put it simply, uploading HELD or OUTSTANDING results is useless. Therefore, it’s prohibited.

Upload outstanding results if the subject(s) are not relevant.

WAEC and other exam bodies will not simply publish the WITHHELD results for an individual candidate, a cohort of candidates, or the entire center. Outstanding outcomes often impact one or a small number of subjects.

Under certain circumstances, you are still able to upload unfinished or pending results. It’s right here.

In the situation that the topic outstood, held, or pended was unrelated to your admission. As stated differently, the topic that is impacted has nothing to do with the suggested course.

CBT Centers and Uploading of O’Level Results

Of course, you must go to the JAMB headquarters or any nearby CBT center in order to upload your O-level results. For you, they will fill out, scan, and upload the results.

Do you believe a CBT facility will post an unfinished or pending examination result for you? Do you believe they’ll motivate you to submit the findings of the HELD?

Of course not. It goes against what JAMB has instructed CBT centers to do.

Naturally, you won’t find the HELD, PENDED, or OUTSTOOD results among the selections offered by JAMB. Only A, B, C, D, E, F, and AR (Awaiting Results) are visible to you.

Can I Still Wait For WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB Results?

With the explanation above, you may not be able to go forward, but you may be on the lookout for your WAEC, NECO, or any other results. Your new concern is whether NECO, GCE, or NABTEB will meet up for this year’s admission.

You need to know this so you can upload it instead if it comes out at the right time.

I have answered this question comprehensively in my post, “Will NECO Results Meet Up With This Year’s Admission?”.

In brief, you may or may not wait. It all depends on the school admission policies or the timing of the admission exercise.

Meanwhile, for the 2023–2024 admission exercise, very many institutions will be forced to wait for candidates to write their WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB and let the results be released before they can close their admission portals.
And if they close their portals earlier than the release of these exam results, they will be forced by JAMB to reopen the portal for uploading only when the time comes.
In other words, if a school ends the post-UTME without you uploading the results, don’t panic. Such schools will later allow you to upload as soon as your O’level result is available.

Uploading Results to the School Portals

During the post-UTME or admission screening registration, as earlier noted, candidates are required to upload their O’level results. And now that your fate is strong or outstanding, can you just go ahead and fulfill it? After all, the school will understand that it will or may be released later!?

As a matter of fact, the same condition applies to JAMB and schools. You can’t upload that to the school portal. No difference.

Both the school and JAMB allow you to wait for results. If things eventually favor you, you should leave things to awaiting results while expecting the exam’s body to decide your final fate.

You can still upload the results on the JAMB portal as soon as you have your results released or get another one. See the date this year’s admission will end, according to JAMB.

We have also seen cases of universities that reopened the upload of O’level results after candidates had done post-UTME and registrations for it were closed. For example, UNILORIN did this a few days after releasing their post-UTME results when they noticed some of their candidates who did well in the post-UTME were still awaiting results on their portal (2019 and 2020 admission years). UNIOSUN and a few other institutions did the same.
